Using TradingView from A to Z: indicators, alerts and templates

Adding and editing indicators, saving templates, setting price and indicator alerts, Bar Replay and the shortcuts you'll use most.

Adding indicators

  1. Open a chart and click Indicators on the toolbar, or press /.
  2. Type the indicator name (RSI, MACD, Bollinger…) and click to add it.
  3. Hover over the indicator name on the chart and click the gear icon to change length, colours and levels.

Saving an indicator template

Once you have a set you like (for example EMA 34, EMA 89, RSI), click the templates icon next to Indicators → Save indicator template. Next time you apply the whole set with one click.

Setting alerts

  • Click the alarm-clock icon (Alert) or press Alt+A.
  • The condition can be price crossing a level, or an indicator crossing a value (RSI crossing 30, price crossing an EMA…).
  • Choose how to be notified: app notification, email…
